Color Cold Mix Asphalt: Durable, Eco-Friendly, and Easy to Apply

Color Cold Mix Asphat uses a resin binder instead of traditional asphalt. It comes in vibrant colors, lets water drain through, and needs no heavy machinery. Strong and beautiful, it’s perfect for decorative pavements.

BES Color Cold Mix Asphat Adhersive

It is a single-component, MDI-modified carbamate asphalt that comes ready to use. Unlike traditional cold mix products that require on-site blending of multiple components, BES flows easily and handles smoothly at room temperature. This simplifies construction, reduces performance variability, and ensures consistent results. Thanks to advanced modification technology, it delivers superior bonding with aggregates and substrates, enhancing both strength and durability.1

 Advantages

For Construction Teams:

  • Low Skill Requirement: Ready-to-use material eliminates on-site mixing and weighing. Even non-professional teams can achieve excellent results, and the material does not stick to finishing tools for easy cleanup.

  • Flexible Construction Methods: Compatible with vertical mixers, drum mixers, and batching plants. Use pavers, rollers, trowel machines, or plate compactors as needed. Optimized procedures can reduce labor costs by up to $2 per square meter.

  • Weather Resistant: Performs well in hot and humid conditions. Rain during curing does not affect final quality.

For Long-Term Performance:

  • Excellent Weather Resistance: Proven durability in Northern China over four years of use.

  • Balanced Strength & Flexibility: Provides high compressive strength while maintaining a break elongation of ≥80%–103%, which absorbs stress and prevents reflective cracking.

  • Long-Lasting Color: Mix with inorganic pigments on site for UV and weather resistance that stays vibrant.

For the Environment:

  • 100% Solvent-Free & Odorless: Formulated with bio-based plant oils. Used containers are easy to clean and recycle.

Cost-Effectiveness:

  • Saves 10–15% of overall costs compared to traditional cold mix processes.微信图片_20260410142348_2233_27微信图片_20260410142348_2233_27

Producing Progress:

Step 1 – Aggregate Selection
Use clean, dry, non-porous aggregates (e.g., basalt) with a moisture and powder content below 0.5%. Recommended particle size for single-graded aggregates: 3–6 mm. Avoid flaky, sunflower-seed-shaped particles (density <1600 kg/m³).

Step 2 – Prepare Substrate
Ensure the substrate is clean and dry. Treat cracks with anti-crack tape. For concrete substrates, apply a BES primer (mixed 1:1 with xylene).

Step 3 – Mixing
Mix steel fibers and aggregates for 2 minutes until fully coated with resin. Then add inorganic pigment evenly and mix for another 3 minutes. Avoid contact with free water during mixing.

Step 4 – Spreading & Leveling
Spread the mixture manually or with equipment. Use a loose-laying factor of 1.1. Ensure flatness and proper slopes.

Step 5 – Compaction
Compact using a low-frequency vibrating compactor, supplemented by manual patching.

Step 6 – Surface Finishing
Use mechanical finishing tools. A trowel pre-coated with edible oil prevents sticking.

Step 7 – Curing

  • If daily humidity >50%: Surface dry in 5 hours, fully dry in 10 hours. Foot traffic possible next morning; full strength in 72 hours.

  • If daily humidity <50%: Mist with water after 2 hours (never within the first 2 hours, as it may cause foaming). Cure overnight.

Step 8 – Tool Cleaning
Clean tools with diesel or xylene after each day’s work.

Important Notes:

  • Avoid construction when average daily temperature is below 5°C for 5 consecutive days, below 0°C, or above 35°C.

  • Avoid rain, snow, fog, or relative humidity above 75%.

  • Water spraying for curing must only be done after the initial 2-hour reactive period.

4. Application Scenarios

BES cold mix asphalt is highly versatile and suitable for a wide range of paving projects, especially where colorful, permeable, or decorative surfaces are desired:

  • Urban bicycle lanes

  • Pedestrian walkways

  • Recreational plazas

  • Park paths

  • Residential walkways

  • Riverside landscape trails

  • School campuses and playgrounds

  • Theme parks and scenic area paths

Its excellent crack resistance, UV stability, and permeable pavement compatibility make it an ideal choice for both new construction and maintenance projects in municipal, commercial, and residential settings.
